History and Activities

UCC started its activities in Suriname in 1995 with a contract from the telecommunications operator (Telco) in Suriname. This contract included the realization of fiber optic connections for telecommunications within Paramaribo, from Paramaribo to Guyana and in a later stage also from Paramaribo to French Guiana and to the Adolf Pengel airport.

Parallel to the realization of these connections, contracts were also acquired from the telecommunications operator (Telco) to help reduce waiting time for residential connections.

UCC has a wide variety of civil engineering equipment, among other things for the opening and closing of cable and pipeline routes as well as equipment for making street crossings without breaking open the road surface and we have thus become active with regard to civil engineering services for the distribution of electricity and drinking water.

Based on the knowledge of telecommunications, UCC also offers services to companies and individuals in the field of telephone and data communications. In many places in Suriname, for both large and small companies, high quality and universal cabling systems have been installed.

UCC was founded in 1995 in Netherlands from ULC, a large and well-known company for E&W installation, and became independent in 1998.

Because of the strong historical ties, there is a close cooperation with former sister companies in the field of equipment, technical expertise, logistics, and education for UCC employees as well as in other areas.
