Fiber-optic techniques

Fiber-optic techniques

These activities of UCC focus on the design, construction and maintenance of indoor and outdoor, direct buried and overhead Multi and Single Mode fiber optic connections for voice (IP), data and other purposes (video, security and so on).

UCC has professional and well trained employees and has up-to-date and calibrated equipment to blow, joint (fusion splicing) and measure (OTDR) fiber optic cables according to international standards.

The different fiber-optic networks that can be installed are:

  • Multi Mode 50/125 microns;
  • Multi Mode 62,5/125 microns;
  • Single Mode 9/125 microns.

The fiber networks can be installed between buildings and outside plant cabinets and can be installed both direct buried (tube / duct) or overhead (so- called ADSS cable - All Dielectric Self Supporting).

In order of telecommunication operators (Telco’s) UCC install underground fiber optical networks for connections between Central Offices, houses, cabinets, mobile telecommunication sites, government, and business. This installation includes the civil works/ excavating, pulling/ laying of the pipes, blowing of fiber optical cable in the ducts and the fusion splicing and determination in the Central Offices, cabinets, and base stations and so on.

Fiber to the Home
UCC also realize “fiber to the home” connections. The activities are: civil works/ excavating, laying of the duct/ direct burial cable, fusion splicing, determination in the “fiber termination unit (FTU) in the residence and the installation of the complete in-house network.
