Civil works

For the purpose of construction of the direct buried networks UCC performs civil works on a daily basis.

This service contains the opening and closing of paved and unpaved roads and sidewalks for laying of cables and / or tubes, using manpower or mechanical (mini)excavators, trenchers, air compressor hammers (of jackhammers) and concrete saws.

For years we have been carrying out street crossings through “press technique”. This with the aid of the air-driven missile beating of a steel tube under the road without damaging the surface.

In 2011, UCC started performing street and river crossings using the "horizontal directional drilling technique". This is a trenchless technique which is used for the construction of underground infrastructures.

The HDD technique involves three phases:

  1. the pilot bore;
  2. the expansion of the borehole;
  3. pulling the PE pipe through the borehole.

After completion of the horizontal drilling the cables or pipes will be pulled through the PE pipes.

UCC has 2 drilling machines, with these machines directional drillings can be performed with a length of 15 (in cities) up to 300 meter with PE-pipe dimensions from 50 mm to 315 mm (the length is depending on the diameter). It is possible to pull multiple PE tubes through the borehole in one pull.

With our well-trained and motivated employees, and the professional and periodically maintained equipment UCC is perfectly able to carry out high-quality horizontal directional drilling projects.
